Hardware Transcoding does not work with Windows 2012R2 and Nvidia Quadro p620 (Lifetime licensed)

I installed the Nvidia Quadro p620 into my Lenovo TS440 server. Then I installed the drivers and the driver patch from here: [Mod-Edit: link removed] (Quadro 442.92 [x64 library patch]). Reboot the server and tried 2-3 streams via Chrome Client. The GPU transcoding is not showing up.

I am on Windows 2012R2 Standard Server.
Plex Server Version#: Version 1.19.3.2764
Plex Player Version#: Version 4.33.1

This might come as some silly questions first… but let’s get those out of the way
Did you enable hw transcoding for your server?
=> Settings > [Server Name] > Transcoder > Use hardware acceleration when available

Also… your server is claimed by the account using your Plex Pass?

PS: let’s don’t push those hacked drivers here in the forum (removed the link in your post)

Thanks for checking. The answers are yes to both.

Just to be clear:

From PMS settings:

  • I can see the " Lifetime Plex Pass" in my Account settings.
  • Transcoder default throttle buffer: 60
  • Background transcoding x264 preset: Medium
  • Disable video stream transcoding: Not checked
  • Use hardware acceleration when available: Checked
  • Use hardware-accelerated video encoding: Checked
  • Maximum simultaneous video transcode: 4

I use the server in “headless” mode via RDP, so technically the p620 is not connected to monitor. The Device Manager shows that Nvidia Quadro p620 is my display adapter, however I do not have GPU displaying in the task manager (probably due to windows server version 2012R2). I also tried to verify with Process Explorer by adding GPU column. There is no activity in the GPU column at all.
