Iād happily stick a quaro p2000 on a single board computer with a few sata drives if I thought it would make an ultra low power plex server.
(I already have a threadripper and it is awesome but I donāt need it drawing 500w 24/7 when Iām only running handbrake for a few hours a week)
ARM with a gpu would be a perfect solution I believe and I can power up the x86 with WOL when I need real power.
Maybe it exists somewhere (thatās what I was looking for when I ended up hear)

it would be great if the PI4 can handle HW transcoding!
i will get a plex pass if this has been optimized.
i run a raspberry pi4 8gb now en push it to the limits to overclock it to 2.147Ghz CPU and 750Mhz Gpu.
running the OS from an M.2 will make it a lot faster when HW transcoding is accepting in Plex it will make it the low budget, low power consumption option of the year and very interesting!
i hope it will run on a steady 64 Bit of the OS to run it with the full potential of al the 8GB RAM of the Pi.

Itās a no brainer. Users will definitely want hw encoding and decoding and will be superb candidates for more lifetime passes. There a lot of traction behind PI4, you should leverage it!
Another vote, for all reasons previously mentioned here. This would certainly bring many more users to both platforms

+1 Would turn the Pi 4 into the perfect low cost server option (itās already pretty appealing as long as you donāt need transcoding - but the hardware is there so it would be great to use it)

Said it in the other thread, will say it againā¦ RPi4 support would be a huge boost: choose your own storage, buy a $35 kit, boom, Plex Media Server.
Admittedly, I gave up on hoping your company would ever support this amazing opportunity, and bought a Mac Mini M1, which kicks a lot of ass. I even had 7 simultaneous transcodes working across a 5Mbps uplink.
For that, I gotta sayā¦ solid coding Plex peeps.
OTOH, I still say thereās a huge opportunity in the RPi community. Maybe even a partnership wi5 not one but many NAS manufacturers. (I prefer Drobo but there are so many)

+1 here here, actually just got through the whole process of setting up, testing, and retesting on the pi 4 8GB, only to see itās not performant! Another lifetime pass holder disappointed by the lack of potential. 
As said by another user here thereās huge marketability to be had in a little PlexPi box, it would be a shame for such a thing to never see the light of day.
Another +1 vote from a lifetime Plexpass user here. I have actually recently stood up a Jellyfin environment to try it out just for the hardware encoding capabilities.
I really appreciate all you guys do. It amazes me just how many platforms Plex supports. Great job. ā¦but yeah, that Pi4 support would sure be nice, lol.
