Hardware transcoding live TV to Roku Premiere +

Hello, I wanted to see if anyone is able to use hardware transcoding on the server and stream live TV to their Roku. Server is i7-4790 with HD graphics 4600. Latest version of PLEX server 1.9.7.4460. Server is remote and connected to an HD Homerun PRIME. If hardware transcoding is selected if I try to connect from the Roku it just hangs at 13%. Without hardware acceleration it streams to the Roku just fine. Would prefer the hardware transcoding to be able to use the three tuners of the Prime without pegging the CPU. Thank you.

ave you tried turning on Transcoding in the DVR section setup? This might solve your problem as the streams will be transcoded while recording.

Would this affect live TV streaming when not recording? I see the transcoding option in the Prime device setup and can give it a try. Odd thing is that with hardware transcoding enabled I can stream tv to my android phone but not to the roku. Thanks.

I have used hardware and software transcoding on my QNAP TS-251+ NAS to my Roku Premier+. The 251+ has a J1900 Celeron which is the identical version Intel QSV as the one in the 4600 Graphics.

The quality wasn’t good but it did work on the encoding portion of the transcoding. No matter what I do I can’t get QSV to decode the MPEG2VIDEO (.ts) incoming stream.

I am also using a Prime.
