Hardware transcoding not working anymore on QNAP

Server Version#: 1.20.2.3343
Player Version#: 4.43.1
Hi,
since i’ve updated qnap os and plex server to the latest version the hardware transcoding is not working anymore.
In the logs i see this errors:
ep 24, 2020 10:08:24.533 [0x7f5e6f447700] ERROR - [Transcode] [FFMPEG] - libva: dlopen of /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/lib/dri/i965_drv_video.so failed: libdrm_intel.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Did someone have any suggestion?

May I have those DEBUG log files please? (the entire ZIP)

Have you attempted to reinstall (on top of the existing) installation?

Hi,
already tried a reinstall multiple times without any benefit.
Should i attach the ZIP file in the discussion or send it directly to you?
Thanks

You can attach it here

If I see anything which might be personal/questionable, I’ll remove it for you.

Ok, here it is.Plex Media Server Logs_2020-09-24_19-02-29.zip (532.4 KB)

@Halino

Please go back into Settings - Server - General and turn DEBUG logging back on.
(It’s on by default so we can help but doesn’t consume space because log file sizes are fixed).

Next, please recreate the problem and then attach a fresh set of logs.

DEBUG allows me to see the intermediate steps PMS is taking and why it makes the decisions it does.

What I see in your logs now are only things like this:

Thank you for that. Now I can see.

  2. Which Nvidia graphics card is installed.
  3. Is the video H.264 or HEVC (H.265) ?

It seams that I have same problem (no HW acceleration) on Synology DS 1019+ /plexpass, different players <iOS, iPadOS, Android, Web>/

@siona

Like Halino above,

Please verify DEBUG logging enabled, VERBOSE logging disabled, recreate the problem then download and attach the ZIP it gives you.

Hi,
Is a qnap 251+, should use intel and not Nvidia drivers.

Halino. Thanks. that fills in the missing piece.

The J1900 cannot do HEVC HDR. Is that what you’re trying to play?

QNAP	TS-251+	x64 (Celeron J1900) 2.0GHz Yes	Yes	Some	No	No	Yes	Yes	Yes	SDR Only	H.264 Output	No	No

Line 100

No, is h264. The same media was transcoded without issues some time ago. After the latest updates I noticed that the hardware transcoding wasn’t working anymore at all for all the media I have.

Hi,
did you find something interesting in the logs?

Exactly the same issue with the same error log. PMS version 1.20.2.3343, QNAP TS-551 w/J3355 CPU. Waiting for solution, Thanks.

Me too… Since latest update 1.20.2.3343 Hardware Transcoding isnt working on my Synology DS 1019+ anymore… :frowning:
CPU almost always on 90-97 % with only one Transcode…
Waiting for the next update?? Is that the solution?

@mekek73

Please back down (install 1.20.1 PRODUCTION PUBLIC) back on the NAS.

1.20.2 is flawed.

The error was identified late last night and is being remedied now.

It impacts ALL Intel QSV models which use the i965 driver.
This includes the J3xxx CPUs

To do that I have to deinstall 1.20.2.3343, or?
After that I can install 1.20.1.3252.

I use the Plex Synology Packages.

Dont I lose all Settings?

(Syno DS1019+)

On QNAP (the subforum you’re in) - Install 1.20.1 on top of what’s installed. QNAP allows the install-downgrade without data loss. (I don’t erase anything during the reinstall)

On Synology, uninstalling the package (package center) keeps the Plex share (where the server’s data is). I don’t delete it. Uninstall-reinstall is necessary on Synology because of how they manage software.

In the future, Please try to keep an eye on the forum tag at the top of the window.
