Hi, just used hardware transcoding on my DS216PLUSII since its usage is possible with plexpass. with HD content it works great, but with Pal DVD content, ripped with Makemkv and transcoded with Handenbrake (high quality, 4.1, mp4,h264), the picture is squeezed. aspect ratio isnt wright. is this a bug. with software transcoding everything is fine.
is this a bug?

If you re-encoded with HandBrake, it’s more likely you omitted something which sets the display size correctly.
I will need to know more about the input as well as the output
Can you hover over the item, click the ellipsis, click Get Info, then click View XML and paste that XML here with Code paragraph formatting (top of the reply window)

That’s the ‘Get Info’ results. When at that display, in the lower left corner, you see View XML. please click that.
It will open a browser tab. Copy/paste all that text into the reply window.
After pasting, highlight all of it and click the paragraph formatting symbol at the top (backwards P) and then click Code . This gives Code formatting and prevents the forum from obscuring the info.

Ich habe in Koenigstein gewohnen. Ich war in USA geboren. Meine Tante und Unkle leben in Koenigstein. meine Eltern wollten, dass ich eine ordentliche deutsche Ausbildung habe. In diesen Jahren verbrachten wir viel Zeit in unserer Ferienwohnung im Mösern. Von dort bin ich überall hingegangen Die HoheMunde ist mein Lieblingsort. Morgens zu klettern, Mittagessen auf dem Gipfel und am Abend herunterzukommen gab mir immer beruhigend und erfrischend. Jetzt spreche ich nicht so viel Deutsch. Ich versuche immer mit mir selbst zu sprechen damit ich nicht vergesse. Es ist viele Jahre her, seit ich zu Hause bin. Ich muss reisen und mich wieder erinnern, bevor ich nicht mehr in der Lage bin.

Your display size and storage size cause the distortion you see.
Geometry is 720x576 but you display as 1024 x 576. This causes your distortion. It stretches the horizontal to fit the display size. These must be the same ratio or same value. Either 720x675 or 1024x576 for both. Bitte niemals vermischen

i will give it a try. but it works with software transcoding and also with synologys hardware transcoding.

cant change these settings
cant change handbrake setting this way. and they are 720x576 - 1024x576. with software transcoding and video station hardware transcoding the picture isnt squeezed so it must be correct. there must be a problem with plex hardware transcoding with Pal DvDs an anamorphic material?

Would you have time to make screen captures? The finer points of the HW transcoding matricies is something I haven’t done in a long time. I would like to present your information to the transcoder team and let them look. Once they see what’s happening for you, we’ll know.
From what you’re showing (I have no PAL source to test with myself), it probably has something wrong. If you can create a sample file (20 MB?) that would be great as well.
