Hardware transcoding

I just bought Plex Pass so I could get hardware transcoding to transcode 4k video on a Broadwell i7 5600U.

I am getting the below error:
DEBUG - Codecs: hardware transcoding: opening hw device failed - probably not supported by this system, error: Unknown error occurred

OS is Ubuntu 18.04 and is up to date.

There’s no GPU installed (this is a laptop with integrated GPU only)

I assumed after reading this doc I would be compatible as the GPU is broadwell and has quicksync…

I found the answer albeit not the answer I was hoping for.

hw transcoding is working with h.264 the issue was HEVC will require Skylake or newer.
