So all of a sudden none of my .avi files will play on any Plex client! Have they quit supporting them? What kind of nonsense is this? They play fine on my Windows computer (not in Plex though). How can they suddenly not work? And now I’m supposed to convert hundreds of files/movies?
What exactly are you experiencing, some error message, player starting but getting stuck…?
Your server logs might show details if something is going wrong.
Thanks for your reply. Are you saying that Plex does still support .avi files and there may be some error on my end? I can tell you that my computer is easily fast enough to transcode anything you can throw at it. When I try to play an .avi file on my Windows machine, Plex Web App just has a spinning icon and never plays the files (they all worked the last time I tried them which was a few weeks ago). My Apple TV spins for a bit and then gives the message “Playback Stopped. Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error.” My iPhone gives the message “Error Occurred. Error opening input.” So should I upload my server logs here? It’s quite big. The zip file is about 170 MB. Or should I just upload the Plex Transcoder logs inside it? Thanks for your help.
