Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD with Plex on unRAID

I am attempting to build a Plex media server with unRAID. I have a Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD card that shows Plex support on the box. Plex cannot see the card from the DVR setup screen. Any ideas? I something else needed?

-unRAID 6.4.0
-Plex Server Version 1.11.0.4666 (LinuxServer.io docker image)

I just got this working myself!

  • UnRAID 6.3.5
  • Plex Docker from Limetech

I did the following:

  1. Install Community Applications
  2. Install unRAID DVB Edition from Community Applications
  3. Click on the Plug-Ins tab on the Unraid page and under DVB unRAID Builds have it install LibELEC
  4. Once it is done it will tell you to reboot UnRAID, so do so
  5. Go to the Plex docker and add this to the Extra Parameters: --device=/dev/dvb/
  6. After Plex restarts you should be good!

do you have to have the DV-B version, or will this work with the ATSC version as well?

Sorry to revive an old thread but your solution worked for me…temporarily. I just installed the WinTV Quad after following your advice and it worked great. Channels detected, shows recorded, etc. When I looked at the server 12 hrs later, Plex was offline. When restarted, it gives me an ‘execution error’ and won’t start. If I remove the Extra Parameter (–device=/dev/dvb/), it will start but doesn’t see the WinTV. Any chance you have any insight on this? I’m wondering if the tuner card died?? Thanks!
