Plex DVR not seeing Wintv-dualHD USB tuner (UnRaid)

I am running Plex 1.7.3.3937 on an UnRaid (6.3.5) docker (binhex-plexpass) and just bought the Wintv-dualHD usb tuner for it. I cannot get Plex to see the tuner no matter what I try. I know the tuner is working since I tested in on a Windows 10 machine. I am guessing it is a simple command but I cannot find it anywhere.

Thanks for the help!

this is why forum support sucks. Same issue. Youve been waiting 2 days with no response

Do you have the driver for your usb tuner Wintv-dualHD in unRAID and you can see device? Do you use the DVB Plugin in unRAID? Here you can add DVB drivers to unRAID.

What gives you a lspci on your unRAID system?

This is more a unRAID issue which should be discussed in the Limetech forum:

As mentioned by others, please make sure the device is working under your OS first. Plex cannot see the device if your OS doesn’t see it.

I’m not on an UnRAID container, but I am using docker (mandreko/pms-docker) and I have the same tuner. Every time the container gets restarted (reboot, manual restart, etc), I have to do

    docker exec -it plex /bin/bash
    chown -R root:video /dev/dvb

After that, I’m able to add my tuner. But, I’m not even able to restart the container again without losing the tuner. I continually have to delete & re-add my tuner (which sucks). But, while the container is up, it does record, and using the container above, it will successfully remove most commercials.

ed: I should add… I think the problem is that plex is running (in my case, anyway) as a user “plex” which belongs to the video group, but my host video group has a different group id (91) than the container (44). The chown command above will give the container’s video group access to the tuner. In the case of the WinTV-DualHD, that tuner lives under /dev/dvb.

Hope that helps.
