Have Plex Pass - How do add users?

I have a Plex Pass to access the content on my sever at home. How can I add my kids as users and let them access content too?

When I try to add a user it sends them an email inviting them to join, but then they have to log in with my username and password.

What am I missing?

Also, do I want to add a Managed User or and Existing User? I don’t understand the difference.

When I try to add an Existing User, it sends an email invitation to the person. But that’s the email that just takes them back to the log in page where they need my user name and password.

Is this not what you want? So they don’t have to login with their own username and password?

There are 2 ways of sharing a server.

  1. ‘Plex Friends’: every ‘Friend’ must have an own set of username and password. Requires a unique email address per user account.
  2. ‘Plex Home’: is intended for creating sub-accounts for every user in a household, so they don’t need an own plex account. Enables ‘Fast user switching’

When they are watching at home, through the Roku for example, they can use the already established account. But if they want to watch from away on their laptops, shouldn’t they have their own account and password? I’d rather not give everyone the main account user name and password.

If they are set up as Plex Friends, can they access the server remotely? If yes, how do I create their accounts and passwords?

Enable ‘remote access’ for your server (if you haven’t done so already)

Yes.

The following can get quite confusing if you don’t log out from plex.tv before every new account creation.
You may want to use a different web browser than the one you use to manage your Plex server.

https://plex.tv/users/sign_up

(You need a unique email address for every user.)
You create the accounts.
You verify their email addresses (they will receive an email after the account creation, with a link to click)
you invite them as per the ‘Plex Friends’ link above
each of them will again receive an email to ‘accept’ the invitation

Then each of them can log in with their respective browsers to plex.tv
