Have to reinstall Plex with each computer reboot

I have used Plex for many years with very few problems, but, for some reason for the past two months, I have to reinstall Plex after every computer shutdown in order to connect with my Plex server. I figured a Plex update would take care of the problem, but that has not occurred. I’m on Windows 11, and the downloaded file I am reinstalling to reconnect to Plex is Plex Media Server 1.40.4.8679-424562606-x86_64. If there is a different file I need to use, can you direct me to it? I appreciate any assistance, as constant reinstalling is becoming tiresome.

What’s the issue before reinstalling the server?
Sounds like something really weird is going on with your system…

Based on a couple reddit threads (Why do I have to reinstall Plex after every reboot? : PleX (reddit.com), Plex updating : PleX (reddit.com)), the automatic 32- to 64-bit transition might have broken Plex’s automatic start behavior if you previously had it enabled. If that’s the same issue you’re running into, you should be able to manually start Plex, right-click the system tray icon, and re-enable it.

The issue before reinstallation is that when I launch my Plex from the web, it will not connect to my Plex server. None of my videos stored in my hard drive show up on the opened Plex page. However, once I reinstall the file mentioned in my post, they are immediately accessible.

Thanks. The Reddit link you provided indicated one possible fix was to uncheck the automatic login in Settings. I’ve tried it both ways (mostly been doing manual login in recent months), but it makes no difference. (I believe this addresses what you were referring to in your post. You mentioned right clicking on the system tray icon to make this change, but I don’t see that icon in the application. What I am using is a web-based Plex.) I also today noticed there was an updated server file to use (updated, I think, Aug. 11). I tried that today, and again no difference.

The system tray icons are the group of icons (that may be hidden behind a small arrow) on the right side of the taskbar of Windows itself, not the browser/a specific Plex app:

Thank you much! That seemed to resolve the problem.
