First, please know that I’m looking for honest (not flaming or defensive) feedback here.
I have been a Plex user for as long as I can remember. I truly believe t is simply the best way to provide easy and reliable access to all of our media. I am a Plex Pass subscriber and don’t flinch when it comes time to throw more money at these heroes. I love what Plex as done for me and my family.
I have invested MUCH in the way of dedicated hardware (a i5 Mac Mini, attached Western Digital cloud drives and USB drives and the money it takes to rent and rip Blu-Ray and DVD’s and buying CD’s and digital music files to beef up the library, etc.) Add to that the effort I have and continue to dedicate to acquire, rip and maintain the library of movies and music in my Plex server.
My entire family now uses Apple devices. We have Amazon Prime, DIRECTV w/HBO (our location means OTA TV is a PITA), an Apple TV at the main television in the living room and master bedroom, subscriptions to Netflix and Hulu and the Apple Music Family Plan. It came to my attention that we have naturally migrated toward the paid platforms. With all of those at our disposal, there is never nothing to watch or listen to. I can’t imagine what acquiring all of those digital assets would cost to beef up the Plex server in our house.
With that said, as the dude who pays the bills, I want to pull rank and push everyone to one or the other. If you were hired to sell Plex to us knowing (admittedly little) what I’ve told you, how would you do it? I truly want the most dedicated, rabid Plex fans to tell me why it’s worth keeping on and up.
I sincerely thank you in advance for your input and advice.
