Having issues with DTS audio on my AndroidTV

Server Version#: 1.25.2.5319
Player Version#: 8.26.2.29389

I have an AndroidTV (Hisense) and a Vizio soundbar that is capable of playing DTS audio. I have the devices connected via HDMI ARC. I always get an error for transcode reason saying “DTS audio is not supported by the device”. I’m thinking maybe my passthrough settings are off? I have my TV set to PCM (other options are Auto, Pass through, Dolby Digital, and DD+). I also have the Plex app passthrough setting disabled. Thoughts on how I can get this working?

What is the TV model?

What is the Vizio soundbar model?
Do you know the full list of supported audio formats - DD+, DD+ w/ Atmos, etc?

The Plex Android TV app supports passthrough for dts.

Some TV manufacturers do not support all audio formats and may restrict passthrough of those formats. I do not know if your Hisense supports dts audio. You should be able to check the TV’s tech specs online to determine if dts is supported. Also check rtings.com for a review of your TV model, as they test which audio formats are supported.

Try Passthrough.

PCM most likely forces output to PCM.

Passthrough = Disabled changes all audio output to PCM.

Try Passthrough = HDMI.

If you do not need Dolby Digital Plus audio, you can also try Passthrough = Optical. Another setting will appear next to Passthrough for audio format. Make sure both AC3 and dts are selected.

Passthrough = Optical tells the Plex app to act as if it is connected via an Optical, not HDMI-ARC, connection. Supported audio formats are AC3 & dts up to 5.1 channels and PCM 2.0. Dolby Digital Plus and PCM over 2.0 are not supported, and will be transcoded to a supported format.

Thanks! So my TV and soundbar are both DTS supported. I have the Hisense H9G, 2020 model, and my soundbar is the Vizio SB3651-E6B. I’ve tried nearly every combination and it still gives me the error saying DTS audio is not supported. I may try going with optical instead to see if that works…
