HD match to personal media library

I have an extensive collection of personal movies I ripped years ago from discs. But I did so when resolutions were lower and not as important for smaller TVs. But now I have a huge TV and would like HD content. Can you provide a service that would match and verify movies in our library and then stream at higher resolutions? That is a service I would pay for!

Plex already provides this functionality.

I gave a mini explanation on this thread:

thanks, I’ll check that out!

Ok, so looking at your post more I see that you have actually ripped two versions of each movie. I only have an SD version. So I am not sure your suggestion is the answer I am looking for. I am asking for PLEX to offer the HD version for any of my SD versions. Apple did this for music years ago before the music subscription service became what it is now.

Oh ok, I misunderstood.
The closet thing you would have to that is either their discover feature that shows what streaming services the content is available on, or the Free Movies & TV service they provide (which has ads).

Given it is personal media that you rip and add, there is no scenario where Plex will upgrade the quality of your personal media. The only reason it could have happened with Apple is because the content was originally purchased or redeemed (digital copy) through their service.
Plex is not a content provider in the same way Apple or Amazon are.

Given your request is for your personal media library, the feature would be more in line with how the discover page works but displayed within your personal media.
i.e. Having a ‘More Ways to Watch’ section within your personal media.
