HDD not recognised by Plex Web (Linux Server)

Hi All,

So I’ve set up Plex server on my Ras pi 4. All is okay but I can’t access my external HDD. I’ve had a look on the forum to find a fix but unable to find one yet. I’ve seen a couple of posts about the user not have permissions.

I have went into `“sudo nano /etc/default/plexmediaserver” but there is no text within the file.

Within Linux GUI I’m able to see all of the files within the external drive. but within Plex it can see the drive but unable to view any of the movies within it.

Plex Web is not responsible for finding the hdd.
You have to add a library to your PlexMediaServer with your hdd as a media folder.

Be sure that the files on your HDD are readable by the plex user, permission wise.

A quick fix for would be to give read permissions to all to your mediafiles.

chmod -R o+r /path/to/your/media_library
