HDHomeRun - Can't view Live TV with Plex anymore

Server Version#: Version 1.28.2.6151
Tuner Make/Model: HDHomeRun CONNET

So… haven’t use the LiveTV mode on my Plex in some time. Have been trying to for the past few days with NO luck.

I went into Live TV & DVR - Device Settings, and it does see the HDHomeRun and I can scan for channels. However, when I go to LiveTV and and click the Play button on the guide for a show, I get the spinning circle for a bit, then “Playback Error - An error occurred trying to play “show name” . Erorr code s1003 (network)”

Happens on anything I try and watch.

I can however, use the HDHomeRun app on a computer, and it tunes in and works fine - so not an issue with the HDHomeRun it seems.

Any ideas?

This error can result from many underlying issues. Would you check that you have debug level server logging enabled (and not verbose), recreate the problem, and then extract logs to post here?

Additional info on server logs here.

I have all the logs… which one is the one I should post here?

Here is the main server.log file…

Seems to large to post here in a message

From Plex Web go to Settings → Troubleshooting and click on the “Download Logs” button. That will download a compressed zip of your logs to your browser’s download location, and should be small enough to attach to a post on this forum. (Use the upload button while composing, which looks like a box with an upward pointing arrow.)

Don’t see a way to upload… does it not allow you on a reply?

Drag and drop the zip file in your reply.

Found it… thanks!

Having the same issue here. First noticed it last Saturday. Been stuck on initializing:

@erickeith This appears to be different issue where you are having an issue with the EPG guide refresh., as opposed to the OP can scan channels but then can’t initiate Live TV playback.

For best support, I’d suggest opening a separate topic for your issue and please also post debug level logs from a few minutes after you initiate a guide data refresh.

@mnapuran

I’m seeing the following error:

Sep 23, 2022 11:39:03.148 [0x80c6f4300] ERROR - [Req#372be/Transcode/94715e8e-cfb3-47a9-a25e-1d6e58cdf7c4/6c14294a-ec90-4384-b411-3ed5aecedcd1] [tcp @ 0x80290d080] Connection to tcp://192.168.1.34:5004 failed: Operation timed out

Am I correct that your Plex server is on a computer with LAN IP 192.168.1.36? Also, is your tuner a HDHR at 192.168.1.34? What is your client computer, and are your trying to start LiveTV using Chrome?

I’m also seeing quite a few curl errors, for example when I think it is your server trying to communicate with your HDHR tuner:

Sep 23, 2022 11:38:55.892 [0x80a327a00] DEBUG - [Req#3729f/Grabber/5fc76ddc3d6790002db3a8ce-5fc705dac8d56d002e06f183-t7matrd819dj8jp8538cvrcr/HCl#5f3e] HTTP requesting GET http://192.168.1.34/discover.json
Sep 23, 2022 11:38:57.831 [0x808f0c400] DEBUG - [HttpClient/HCl#5f3c] HTTP simulating 408 after curl timeout

Seeing the curl timeout this feels like a network issue. Is the Plex server using a wired network interface, or wireless? If there is some networking issue with your Plex server it could explain why it works directly with your HDHR, but not Plex.
