Rather than create another task some time after the update is run, you could just add an action to the current epg123_update task in Task Scheduler. That way, as soon as the XMLTV file is updated, it can be copied/moved to the desired location.
When I try to get the program to fetch the guide from the link in your post (URL below) , I get a web page that says “Sorry, you don’t have access to that topic!” How can I get access, or otherwise download the windows client? Thanks!
Thank you for the information. I hope to try this out in the next couple of days. Just dropped cable so looking forward to getting this setup
FYI, if you’re not also trying to use OTA channels, the PTV guides are available in Plex now.
I have both OTA and premium tv and want to be able to see and tune both from within the Plex guide
I have an account setup on schedules direct and have loaded epg123 on my Win10 machine. It appears that I have successfully “fetched” both the silicon dust premium tv and my local OTA channels. From these channels I have selected the stations of interest and I have made my epg123 initial selections (days of schedule, include station logos, and create xmltv file). I did save and execute but there is nothing in the epg123 output directory and I’m not sure why. I don’t see any obvious choices that I didn’t make (or need to make) and expected to see an initial results file to start working with.
Take a look at the trace.log file to see what could be wrong. Open the EPG123 Configuration GUI and click the [View Log] button to view it.
Thanks, took a look to see what the log shows and one of the log items is:
12/23/2018 10:00:19 PM] [ERROR] The expected number of stations to download is 51 but there are only 45 stations available from Schedules Direct. Aborting update for review by user.
I noticed that I have channels listed in Lineup 1 (premium tv); Lineup 2 (OTA) and Custom Lineup (not sure why channels are showing up here). Based on the log I went back and reviewed the channels listings and excluded those in the “custom lineup” and once I did that an xmltv file was successfully created.
Interesting. I’ll have to try and recreate this… that shouldn’t happen with the custom lineup. Was your premium tv east, and the custom pacific?
Thanks for the update!
Found my problem here. It was a scenario I hadn’t considered when adding the custom lineups in the code.
Thank you for letting me know!
Glad to hear you found and corrected the issue. I have been away and haven’t tried to retrieve any additional lineups for my usage.
Any word on if this is being worked on by the Plex developers? Seems a little silly to have to use a third-party, subscription-based Windows app to get this working in Plex.
I too activated the 2 week trial of HD Homerun Premium channels with OTH channels. I live in the MST and the channel guide is off for: Paramount, True TV, Lifetime, E!, National Geographic, Disney, Nickelodeon and Freeform by 3 hours (EST vs PST). This is a deal breaker for the kids. Adding my voice to ask Plex to fix this.
I’m in the exact same boat - some of my HDHomerun Premium channels EPG data (provided by Plex) is off by a few hours for me as well. Plex needs to address this - the ability to select different ZIP code for different channels would address this. Or just improve your HDHomerun support and provide a EPG specific for HDHomerun. Shouldn’t be too hard IMO.
Do you have Uverse in your area? I was able to use the Uverse channel guide in my area to map both EST and PST channels. Just a suggestion, if it’s possible for you
ZeroFux - I don’t see PST channels when I select Uverse, only EST… Might be your ZIP is special
Unfortunately, I had to “fix” this problem by completely abandoning the Plex ecosystem. For me, this is a dealbreaker. Emby, which is a much less mature platform, is handling multiple EPG per tuner with such ease, that Plex should be embarrassed. There is a “feature request” for this with 224 votes currently, that’s over 18 months old now: Multiple epg sources, for those with multiple tuners
If Plex hadn’t fixed something that simple in 18 months, I’m not sure if they’ll fix it at all.
WOW YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD ADDRESS THIS
I tried this and most of the channels programming times were way off.
Probably a short term option anyway:
