HDHomerun Quattro seeing less channels after ATSC 3 was enabled

ATSC 3 was recently enabled in my area, now the HDHome Run Quattro picks up a lot less channels. There should still be ATSC 1 broadcasted right? I wouldn’t think it would be completely eliminated now. Any help with this matter is much appreciated

Server Version#: 1.21.1.3876
Tuner Make/Model: HDHome Run Quattro

What does the channel list at my.hdhomerun.com show? The main page should show a count of the channels it detects. Click on that and it will show a list of all the channels, with the option to detect channels. Do you see all the channels you expect there?

Yes, broadcasters are currently required to maintain ATSC 1.0 broadcasts that are “substantially similar” to their ATSC 3.0 ones.

That page is also showing 9 channels only, where as before, I could tune 30 channels

I’d suggest creating a post about it over on the SiliconDust forums. If you enable diagnostics (click on your tuner name and then System Menu on my.hdhomerun.com) and then detect channels, you can include your device ID in the post and they can check to see why some channels can’t be tuned. Common problems include:

  • Antenna/cabling issues. Check your connections to ensure they’re still secure.
  • Channels too “hot.” If you’re using an amplifier with your antenna, try removing it. Don’t just power it off, but actually remove it from the signal path.
  • LTE interference. If you’ve got LTE cell towers close by they can sometimes cause interference with UHF broadcasts. An LTE filter could help.
  • I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention weak signal strength as a possible cause.
