I'm having some HDMI sync/dropout issues while playing back through my Linux HTPC.
OS: Ubuntu 14.04
Processor: AMD Athlon 5350 APU, 2.05Ghz
Motherboard: ASRock AM1H-ITX
Memory: 4 GB Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3
Internal Storage: Crucial MX100 128GB SSD
External Storage: Drobo over USB 2.0
Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR606
TV: Panasonic Plasma
PHT Version: 1.3.6.dev-get
Right now my setup is running HDMI out of the HTPC, to the Onkyo receiver which is passing through to the plasma. Everything is working fine, except that the HDMI audio seems to drop out every few seconds and the "MULTICHANNEL" and "HDMI" lights flicker off and on on the front of my reciever. Video continues to play fine while this happens.
Its been a huge work in progress to even get this far with lots of headaches with the PHT audio passthrough options. I've had every combination of stuttering video with tons of dropped frames, lack of audio, distorted audio and a completely locked up system.
To get this far I have unchecked all the passthrough options in PHT Audio Output settings (AC3, DTS, Dolby, Etc). I have attached a screenshot of the output settings. "Audio Output Device" and "Passthrough output device" are both set on "HD-Audio Generic, @@@" but I've tried as many combinations as I can come up with, including setting them both to "HD-Audio Generic, HDMI" The other options it gives me are:
Audio Output Device -> "HD-Audio Generic, @@@", "HD-Audio Generic, HDMI", "Pulse Audio Sound Server", "Playback/Recording Through PulseAudio", "HD-Audio Generic, ALC892 Digital S/PDIF", "HD- Audio Generic", "ALC892 Analog"
Passthrough Output Device -> "HD-Audio Generic, @@@", "HD-Audio Generic, HDMI", "HD-Audio Generic, ALC892 Digital S/PDIF"
I have also made the suggested changes in pavucontrol that I've seen in these forums, and I've also ran the "export AE_ENGINE=SOFT" in terminal as suggested by many in these forums.
Not sure if it matters or not, but to get smooth playback I've had to enable "Adjust display refresh rate to match video".
ANY help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is starting to drive me (and my wife) mad.
