Headless Plexamp on the Raspberry Pi behaving so erratically it's useless

Just installed a headless plexamp on my Pi 5 following the howtohifi.com tutorial. Installation went smoothly.

Entered the web configuration for the headless plexamp and set all settings correctly (bitperfect, usb to my dac, etc.)

However, whenever I try to play from ANY source (web, my iPhone app, my Mac’s app, my iPad app), I am able to select the headless player, select a track and, as soon at it starts playing, it cuts off, not only the music but also the “now playing” screen. It starts coming on and off and on and off and behaving so erratically that it seems possessed (or being controlled by someone else). I’ve noticed this behaviour worsens when two players (i.e. iPhone and Mac) have the headless amp selected as a player. Still, with only one player using it, is so erratical I’m unable to use it.

I was perfectly using an old Chromecast Audio but being non-gapless made me go the pi way, guess will have to go back to non-gapless Chromecast, at least it plays.

NO? NOTHING?

Well, I guess this is the famous Plex Support. Nothing left for me to do than to cancel Plex Pass and move to Roon.

Headless Plex on Pi sounds nice but in reality and after reading the hundreds of topics posted here about many issues with it, I can safely conclude its useless, beta crap.

I’ve had no issues with plexamp on my rpi-4 using these instructions:

Yes, It’s exactly the same process as the one described in howtohifi.com. I’ve moved on to Roon. Thanks anyway.

For the curious, here’s the summary of my findings after troubleshooting for three days in a row with the help of an IA assistant: Plexamp Headless Pi – Gapless causes mono BASS streams, mixer underflows, skips, and loss of control
