Hebrew subtitles not showing on smart tv

Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639-fb6452ebf
Player Version#:10.8.0.5554

I do have plex installed on an older LG smart TV, with a really older version of plex (UI looks entirely different), and the subtitles do show.
Is there anything I can do?

We no longer support the LG TVs running old versions of the Plex app. We recommend users switch to a supported device connected to their TV instead, such as a Fire TV, Roku or other TV device.

It’s sad that after all this time you finally read my issue and you don’t even read what I wrote.
On the old LG the subtitles do work. On a newer smart TV they don’t.

The player version in your first post is for the Plex Android TV app, not the Plex LG webOS app.

What is the make/model of your TV?

If running Android TV, make sure the Plex app is up to date. The latest release is 10.10.1 (release notes).

My post was published way before the version was released. It is now updated.
It does recognize there are subtitles, but it does not show them.

What is the make/model of your TV?

Are the subtitles embedded in the movie file or external?

If external, how do you have the files named and organized?

Also, how are the subtitles encoded - UTF-8, ANSI, etc.? Most text editors, such as Notepad++, will tell you the encoding.

This works on my Nvidia Shield. It recognizes and displays the subtitles. The subtitles are encoded in Windows-1255 format.

/movies
../12 Strong (2018) {imdb-tt1413492}
..../12 Strong (2018) {imdb-tt1413492}.mkv
..../12 Strong (2018) {imdb-tt1413492}.heb.srt

12 Strong (2018) {imdb-tt1413492}.heb.srt (98.9 KB)

The subtitles are embedded. I’m not sure how embedded subtitles work, since Plex does know that it contains subtitles (which is confusing to me, but I guess it’s something internal to mkv format that specifies it contains subtitles).
Plex recognizes the subtitles inside the mkv, but doesn’t show them. Same file on my computer using VLC player shows the subtitles just fine.

Does the problem happen with all embedded Hebrew subitles, or only with this one file?

If you force a transcode (change playback quality, etc.) do the subtitles appear?

Please pull the Plex XML Info for the file and upload to the thread. Save the info as a .txt or compress it. The forum does not support XML attachments.
