This is the 3rd time in the last few weeks that this has happened. Each time when I add a folder to my music library, ALL the other folders in the library are suddenly marked with a red trash can and are ALL deleted. I am able to temporarily halt the process by selecting “Cancel Scan” from the library, but I can’t to anything to remove them from the trash can, and I’m just stuck until I allow them to be deleted. I can restore the files from iTunes, but of course all the playlists created on Plex are lost. I don’t know why this is happening, and it does not happen every time I upload a new folder. I checked settings and the box to “empty trash after every scan” is NOT checked. I would greatly appreciate some help with this. I would like to start using Plex more, but I can’t get much use out of it if it keeps deleting my files.
I’ve created this video to illustrate the problem- it’s a little over 2 minutes long. I’d appreciate any help on resolving this problem since at this point my Plex libraries are essentially unusable.

When you click the “X” on the right side of the folder, you are removing those folders from PLEX, therefore your files are no longer accessible to plex. Simply add the root folder of you music directory, and it will add all your music.
I highly recommend reviewing the FAQ pages on how to set up a Plex server and libraries.
Thanks for the specific info Dystaxia. It’s been a while since I’ve added any music to plex, and I thought I was doing the same thing I had done before- your explanation made my mistake clear and everything is working now. Thanks again.
