Omg just scaned libary add new movie now all got deleted ? How is that even possible ? Anything i can do ?
step 1:
verify if you have Settings > Server > Library > Empty trash automatically after every scan checked – if so… uncheck it.
This setting is meant to clean-up your library after a scan by removing items no longer found. If your Plex Media Server could loose access to some attached external / network drives and performs a (automated, scheduled, manual) scan then, it’ll remove all the items usually found on that drive.
Sometimes this can also happen if your disks take long to spin up and Plex runs into a timeout.
If this is a recurring issue, also consider to disable automated or scheduled library scans.
step 2 “fixing it”:
make sure Plex can see the attached drive and manually perform a scan for that library. this should bring back your videos/movies – however it won’t return your viewing history and manual edits.

If Plex can see the drive / folders…
- open Plex Web (e.g. https://app.plex.tv/desktop or https://your-pms-ip-address:32400/web)
- click
Scan Library Filesin the library context menu (...)
Yes well nothing happens since folder is empty ?
If the folder is empty, that explains why Plex won’t find anything.
Plex depends on your files to remain in place – there’s no secret copies hidden within some Plex data folder
