Help: Buffering and audio sync issues with Dune (2021) 4K and HD Bandwidth peaking over 500Mbps

Server Version#: 4.77.3
Unraid Version#: 6.9.2
Player Version#: Nvidia Shield 8.31.2.31546

I have a custom built unraid sever with a 10 gigabit ethernet card built in and use an Nvidia shield connected to a Samsung UE55NU7400 TV for viewing. I use a Netgear GS305 Gigabit switch between the two.

I’ve never had any issues playing videos 4K or below and also HDR. I don’t use DV as my TV doesn’t support it. I have a direct MakeMKV rip of Dune (2021) in 4K and also 1080p with the coding for DV and also HDR10. However when I’ve tried to play these files on my shield and also any other device I get massive spikes in bandwidth. Typically for around 5 or so minutes the file plays with no issue and bandwidth between 30-100Mbps it will then start to freeze and stutter, the audio goes out of synch and the Nvidia shield becomes very unresponsive and sometimes crashes. I then get recorded local network bandwidths of up to 550Mbps, which seems way over what I have ever experienced before.

It only seems to be this Movie that I’m having this issue with and even the much lower Bitrate 1080p version is doing the same thing. I’ve purchased another copy and created another file but no change. I’ve also got other dual HDR (HDR10 + DV) MKV files which play fine.

Any ideas at all? this is driving me mad at the moment, I wouldn’t have thought it should max out my network connection and everything is direct playing (audio 5.1 Dolby Digital) no subtitles.

Please let me know if any more info is needed but would really appreciate some help with this one, Thanks

Thanks for your reply and link, I’d read a bit about this recently but wasn’t sure if it would apply as I was playing a 5.1 DD audio track not a TrueHD?

Ah, I should have taken a closer look at your screenshots. Perhaps this doesn’t apply to you then.
