I have Plex Server running on Windows 10 with an HDHomerun Dual tuner. I can watch Live TV shows with no problems. I can also record single movies on any channel with no problem. But when I select a TV series to record, it does not work. The series shows up in the Recording Schedule, but it says “No Upcoming Airings” when there are episodes airing that day. Nothing records. Since the movies do record, I’m assuming there are no permission issues with the Synology NAS storing the files. Thoughts?
You probably have the Airings option set to “New Airings Only” and whatever episodes are showing on the schedule for that day are Repeats.
I wish Plex would change the default to New and Repeat Airings. I have seen many posts on this confusing people and it not recording shows.
I agree, but you would think New or Repeat would be understandable terms. I have heard the term Repeat for an episode that previously aired for over 40 years.
That was it! So simple, and yet not so obvious. 
I assumed “New Airings Only” referred to new to me, as in I have not recorded them yet. I didn’t realize they could filter down to first time broadcasting. Thank you!

Obviously, those terms are up for interpretation.
