Help, I need to delete a Samsung SmartTV

Help, I need to delete a Samsung SmartTV but once deleted from authorized devices it continues to access.

I did tests with other SmartTVs and it only fails with Samsung SmartTV, they can not be deleted.

How can I do it to eliminate it if it does not even appear on authorized devices?

Thank you

Seeing you have a Plex Pass, are you using the Plex Home feature? If other members of Plex Home have signed into the app, they will still have access. Removing a device only removes access from your account. Other users still have access. You need to remove access from each account.

Hello, thanks for answering, the problem is that I have connected several Smart TVs, I have connected them using the 4 letters that it gives.

Only the elimination works well with the LG, the Samsung and Android TV are impossible to eliminate.

To eliminate I simply delete from Authorized Devices, and in the LG the TV asks me again for the 4 letters to reconnect when I try to access again.

But the Samsung and Android TV are still connecting but they are already deleted.

Double check if they are signed in as your user or another user. As mentioned, revoking access only applies to your. If you have Plex Home setup and you have the app set to automatically sign in and the last user was another user, then it will sign into that other user and the app will keep working.

I do not understand, the SmartTVs do not log in with an account, it is connected from ww.plex.tv/link/ and once connected you can start in the domestic user account you want, this happens even when those SmartTVs are removed from "Authorized devices ", but that only happens with the Samsung or Android TV, with LG if I eliminate Authorized Devices and no longer lets enter.

  • go to the tv that is having problems
  • open the plex app and log out the current account
  • open @ Plex > settings > authorized devices > remove the tv(s) you need removed

note: if someone logs in to that tv and is a shared user or home user, then the tv will be reauthorized.

If you no longer want that person using your server, then you must remove the PERSON as well. (under settings > home users or sharing)

Smart tvs do log into an account, whatever account is used by the web browser is what is attached to the tv via that link code.

This is just what does not work with the Samsung and with the Android TV, with the LG if this procedure works.

  • open @ Plex > settings > authorized devices > remove the tv(s) you need removed

And I canĀ“t physically access the TV I want to disconnect, that’s the problem

then you must remove the USER that is logged into that tv.

If that user is YOU, then you are probably screwed.

You might be able to force it to log out by changing your account password. (this will probably cause ALL devices to have be logged in again)

Why does it work ā€œPlex> settings> authorized devices> remove the tv (s) you need removedā€ in LG and not in the others?

If a device is not authorized it should not be able to connect independently of the client that is being used, so it must be a problem of the Plex central server that authorizes to connect to already deleted devices.

if you have shared with an authorized user or account, that account can log into any device and access your server.

even if you remove that device, the next time that authorized user logs in, then the device will be added.

In other words you cannot block a device from being added, if someone logs in as YOU, or any shared/home user.

If you are trying to sell access to your plex server by linking other peoples tv to your account, then they are logged in as YOU.

And obviously that is not supported and will probably get you banned pretty fast.

Otherwise, to get rid of this problem tv, you must get rid of the problem user.

Lets make this simple. Please answer these 2 questions.

1 - Do you use Plex Home and have shared your server with other users (managed or regular Plex users)?
2 - If yes, did any of these users also use these TVs?

I’m not selling anything, my daughter spent a few days at a friend’s house and asked me to please connect her TV, but what I do not understand is because the disconnection works with LG only.

1Āŗ I do not understand well that it is one if a Plex Home is different from a Lifetime Plex Pass
I have a Lifetime Plex Pass that I bought.

2nd I simply connected with www.plex.tv/link/ the code that my daughter gave me.

I’m going to disconnect the guest account and put accounts with keys, because I see no other solution because I’ve already deleted it from authorized devices and it’s still connected.

the behavior should be the same no matter what tv.

basically;

  • daughter give you the pin code for a tv
  • you log in to plex.tv/link and then the tv is linked and added to your account (the tv is now logged in as YOU)
  • you remove the tv from your account, but it keeps logging back in

sounds like either your daughter or friend enabled ā€˜automatically log in’ in the plex tv app options.

this means the tv remembers your account and keeps reconnecting to your server.

whatever LG tv you keep talking about, it sounds like it was not configured to automatically sign in.

sounds like you have 2 options;

  • reset your account password and choose the option to force log out of all devices (then you will have to reauthorize them)
  • send your daughter to her friends house and have her log the plex app out of your account.

@anon18523487 would you consider adding the capability for server owners to completely remove or deny access from clients authorized for friends user? it does not make sense that server owner depends on the users to sign-out in every client they use.

users devices do not need to sign out if the USER is removed from the shared/home user list.

So, what purpose does the list of authorized devices have?

I understand that if an authorized device is removed it can no longer enter, with me LG is like that.

I do not get a list of devices that shared users are authorized for my server. I only see my devices. I do not have home users I only have shared users. I would have to know their credentials to go to their account and remove the device.

@plexuser1427 good point.

you can’t remove shared user’s devices, you can only remove the shared user.

as far as Mis-Pelis, the problem tv is logged in to her account.

Whether or not removing that device from the authorized devices should force that device to re-log in (ie ask for a new pin code) even if ā€˜automatically sign in’ is enabled, is up for debate/discussion/confirmation.

I am just asking if plex would consider adding this capability, of seeing all shared user devices and the capability to de-authorize them or deny access to them. I do not want to delete the user
