I’m trying to add a PBS Frontline documentary in 3 parts called ‘The Power of Big Oil’.
I’ve tried several different naming schemes but none work?
For series name I tried ‘PBS Frontline’ and just ‘Frontline’.
For season/episode, I tried ‘year’ ‘episode’ (e.g. S2022E15), followed by episode name.
And also for series name: ‘The Power of Big Oil’ and respectively S01E01, S01E02, S01E03 for each part and followed by the episode name.
None of all that worked. They each get detected as completely unrelated episodes.
Also tried different scanners and emptying the Trash.
Any help woud be much appreciated!
(it shouldn’t be so hard! )
Do not use other databases like wikipedia to name these and don’t always trust the numbers that come with the original files.
You have to look it up on TVDB or TMDB
Frontline (1983)<–show folder
Season 2022 <–season folder
Click the pencil on main show poster under advanced. Change it to whatever online agent you are using to name your shows if it differs from your library default. This sets the order it should be matched to.
A program like this can help in situations like this. You don’t have to look anything up or change the format. This one pulls metadata directly from the TVDB. If you use it don’t forget to change that order like i showed you above.
Awesome, thx! That worked
I was in fact using TVDB website but it barely has any entries for the PBS Frontline documentaries. I wasn’t aware of TMDB as a source for Plex.
There it in fact shows the show as ‘Frontline (1983)’ and then using the conventional method of naming worked!
Thanks for the tip
