Help Needed: Having issues with hardware transcoding in Linux

If one wishes to learn then asking in a forum how to do it
is bypassing the deductive reasoning, additional research, and learning – is it?

This question has been asked, and answered before. The answers are here in the forum.

IMHO, part of the experience is the joy of victory when a hard sought answer is discovered.

It absolutely is, there are multiple learning points on every journey. Just becuase someone asks for help with one leg doesnt make it a wasted journey.

You are also suggesting that I am posting without doing research first which is inaccurate.

Anyway, no need to continue this dialogue its clear that this isnt the right place for this discussion. Plex is a great project, and appreacate all you do suporting a great community.

Simple questions:

  1. Did you passthrough (assign) the hardware in the ESXi definitiion to the guest?
  2. What does the native host actually have? (a native install / booting to live USB would quickly show what Linux sees)
  3. If the Nvidia drivers are installed, and a video plug installed (some cards require it), you should find /dev/dri/renderD128

Moved the Plex server to a Windows VM which works perfectly. So im giving up for now

Thanks for the support.
