Help needed, how to install plug-ins on Ubuntu 19?

To give you an example, this is from my machine

[chuck@lizum ~.74]$ sudo sh
sh-4.4# grep plex /etc/passwd
plex:x:981:100:RPM Created PlexUser:/var/lib/plexmediaserver:/sbin/nologin
sh-4.4# grep plex /etc/group
plex:x:100:
render:x:965:chuck,plex
sh-4.4#

I suspect something is still wrong, as they don’t return anything when I press enter. I got the following.

foster@HTPCv2:~$ sudo sh
[sudo] password for foster:

grep plex /etc/passwd

grep plex /etc/group

ls -la /var/lib/plexmediaserver

ls: cannot access ‘/var/lib/plexmediaserver’: No such file or directory

I have apparently now reached the number or replies I can send on my first day :frowning: So it won’t let me respond now.

Afraid so. Something still grossly wrong.

Does the Ubuntu have all its updates?

Sorry for the late reply, I wasn’t able to post anymore than 14 replies on my first day on the forums.
I’m fairly certain it had all its updates.
However, I followed your other advice and I have formatted the PC and installed 18.04 LTS on it now. I then followed your earlier stated commands and Plex is installed.
I have remounted my NAS drives and re-added the libraries. I am just in the process of sorting collections and artwork now.
Are there any further commands I need to know to ensure I have set Plex up correctly? E.G. service starts correctly, etc etc

I have crafted a number of helpful “How To” guides to save your forehead as you try to do more with PMS on Linux.

They can be found here.

Thank you so much for all your help. :+1:
I’ll give those a read tonight and see what things I want to set up.
Currently just sorting all my collections, For some reason it isn’t setting up collections on one library.
