Help needed, second Server what can I do?

Hello, everybody,

I currently have a Plex_Server running on an HP_ML330_G6.
Processor: Xeon_X5659_6Core_2.67GHz
RAM: 28GB
Plex installed on Windows which is installed on a Samsung_Enterprise_SSD.

I use the server together with family and friends up to 4-5 streams simultaneously. Works so far without problems.

However, as more users are added and their bandwidth is sometimes low, the server naturally has to work hard. He often has problems transcoding.

Now for 100€ I can get a HP_ML380_G7
Processor: 2x_Intel_Xeon_X5660_6Core_2.8GHz
RAM: 32GB

How can I connect both systems so that transcoding can take place on both systems?

All media are currently installed or available on server 1.

Do you have any suggestions?
What should I do?

You’re in essence looking for a cluster. There was significant talk of this starting in 2015, and it died off in 2017.

In theory, you could possibly do it, by using an OS that supports clustering. I believe that Ubuntu supports clustering, but I’ve never done it.

In practice, you may find you need additional hardware to speed up communication between the two clustered systems. That’s outside of my understanding.
