I have a problem naming TV Show episodes that are aired at the same day, but are not the same. This show does not have episode or season numbers.
If I name files “Showname - 2017-01-01.mp4” and "“Showname - 2017-01-02.mp4” it works OK. But if I have two episodes at the same day and name them like this “Showname - 2017-01-01 17.00.mp4” and "“Showname - 2017-01-01 18.00.mp4”, then only the first one will show up in Plex.
I did check this page: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/sections/200059498-Naming-and-Organizing-TV-Shows
but it does not help on this.
Is there any way to name episodes without season or episode info, so Plex will show them correctly?
Hi
In Finland we have several shows. For example on MTV there’s Ridiculousness that airs 4 episodes in a day and without episode numbers. Also YLE Uutiset (news). Many children shows air several episodes in a day and some without episode numbers.
I’m not using Plex DVR at the moment, because it has several issues. Recordings are done from NextPVR to MCEBuddy to Plex.
Files come from NextPVR with names like this:
Ridiculousness_20170307_19001929.ts
Ridiculousness_20170307_19301959.ts
Ridiculousness_20170307_22002229.ts
Ridiculousness_20170307_23002329.ts
So names would be like this:
Ridiculousness - 2017-03-07 - pt1.ts
Ridiculousness - 2017-03-07 - pt2.ts
Ridiculousness - 2017-03-07 - pt3.ts
Ridiculousness - 2017-03-07 - pt4.ts
Problem is that I’m trying to set automatic renaming. I can’t make MCEBuddy to automatically give partnumers to episodes.
First, episodes will be recorded one by one and MCEBuddy or Plex does not know if there’s gonna be more parts or not.
Second, I’m limited renaming files only based on EPG or file info.
I can make “pt1” and “pt2” be:
“pt17” and “pt18” (based on airing hour) if there’s no episodes in same hour
“pt1700” and “pt1800” (based on hour and minutes)
Anyway, this makes it really difficult because I need to know before witch shows require different naming and workflow.
For your information these are the naming options in MCEBuddy:
If show has season and episode numbers, output is:
Showname\Season XX\Showname - SXXEXX.mp4
And if not, output is:
Showname\Season YYYY\Showname (YYYY) - YYYY-MM-DD HH MM - Episodename.mp4
At the moment, and unfortunately until there are enough requests / documented need for Time in the file naming mechanism (HUGE effort btw), your best option is to use the episode number SxxExx. To verify this. What does TVDB say about this program? Which one are you looking at?
(DVR) More fixes around recording multiple airings of a show on the same day (#6668)
This fixes the problem where only one episode was recorded. There remains an issue with episode identification in the library and that is because of the lack of the detail in the Gracenote data. The airing time is used in this fix to label the episodes differently.
