I have PS4 and WD Nas devices. I installed Plex to my PS4. I have a lot of movies on my NAS devices. I try to watch movies on my home network. Every devices plugged with the cable. (Gigabit)
When I try to watch movie with Plex I take “This server is not powerful enough to convert video” message. I can play mp3 files so conneciton is right. But when I try with iphone and ipad with wifi there is no problem to watch.
I tired smaller size resolutions at the settings but I have same problem.
to understand this correctly… you have the Plex Media Server installed and running on your NAS and the Plex client on the PS4?
You need to consider that the PS4 cannot playback all media directly. If you throw something at it it cannot direct-play, Plex will attempt to put it on-the-fly in the right container (that’s usually not very taxing to the server). If this doesn’t work, Plex will transcode the video to a format the PS4 can deal with – this requires a lot of power and a NAS isn’t necessarily up to it. https://support.plex.tv/articles/201373823-nas-devices-and-limitations/
If that’s the cause of your “This server is not powerful enough to convert video” message, telling it to reduce the size won’t help. Reducing size/quality will also transcode the video. The quality reduction is helpful if you want to watch a high-bitrate video outside your network e.g. on a mobile and you don’t want to eat away all your bandwidth.
If you run into this a lot and want to keep the Plex Server on a NAS, your best choice is to use an app like Handbrake to transcode those videos to a format your PS4 can deal with.
From a related support article:
##Transcode the Content Handbrake
There are lots of applications available to convert and transcode content. Handbrake is a free tool that works well in this situation. Handbrake is available for Windows, OS X, and Linux.
You can also see the ffmpeg info below for additional suggestions that can be used.

Thank you Tom but my playstation media player can play the movies. Plex doesn’t play the movies. I think there is not codec or format problem.
