Server not powerful enough?

I have a QNAP 212P NAS and a PS4. I would like to stream movies from my NAS to the PS4 and have purchased a Plex Pass. Unfortunately I can’t get the PS4 to stream my videos as it is saying the server is not powerful enough. Is there anything I can do for this or will I have to cancel my subscription?

Bill.

my only suggestion would be to make sure video quality is set to original that would avoid transcoding if the original format is supported by the playstation. the other options are to upgrade to a more powerfull server or transcode your videos using a more powerful machine to a format supported by PS4.

Thanks for that. What I don’t get is that I can play 1080p HD media in MKV streamed from the NAS with Twonky on a cheap WDplay box and Raspberry PI with no problem. The only reason I am trying to get Plex to work is so that I can stream to a Playstaion 4. I can’t believe that a new piece of hardware like the PS4 and a subscription service like Plex can’t do together what my QNAP NAS can do out with no special app and cheap little boxes like the PI.

Is your ps4 connected over wif? I found some buffing for that to be an issues installed power line adapters and no concerns.

my recent post on this forum established that you can’t play mkv on the PS4 app :frowning:

Sony does not support the MKV container. If the audio or video streams are comptabible they will be direct streamed, if not they will be transcoded.
