Server is not powerfull enough to convert video

Hi, I have a Plex mediaserver running on my Synology NAS. everything works fine untill I select subtitles on my ps4.
When I do this I get the error “server is not powerful enough to convert video”. I’ve been on all forums trying to find a solution but I can’t find any. The subtitles I use are external .srt files. I thought maybe my NAS just is not powerfull enough, but the thing is, I downloaded plex on my android phone and it works fine, also with subtitles. I also downloaded Plex for Windows, and this also works great with subtitles. Does anybody have any idea what I can do to fix this error on my ps4?

the android app and windows can play external srts natively. the playstation app cannot so it needs server to burn subs in video stream, which is transcoding [converting video]

Thank you for your reply.
So there is nothing I can do to make subtitles work on my ps4. At least not with this NAS?

i have a similar issue to this. I can stream an SD version of A movie in MP4 with aac to my iphone no problem but when i go to watch the same movie on my PS3 it says not powerful enough. After doing some research it says it might not be powerful enough to convert because it uses an ARM processor. But it (plex trouble shooting) says to convert to MP4 format to fix this. What can i do. Why can it play on an iphone no problem and wont work at all on PS3? I have a hard time believing that the 1.2ghz processor cannot transcode this.

@darkboomba: I suppose you could re-encode your videos to burn the subtitles in. I’m personally not sure how to do this.

@shadaytree: If you’re using Handbrake to MP4 try using the Universal or Normal profiles. “MP4” is part of the equation but the audio and video stream contained in the MP4 file has specific requirements.
