Help Please. Using Linux Mint 19

Server Version#: 1.13.9.5456-ecd600442
Player Version#:

I’m brand new to Linux. I’ve been using computers and Windows since windows 3.11 but I’ve got less than a weeks experience with Linux.

I’m sure that I’m not providing all the information that you need. I don’t know what additional information that I need to provide. Please ask specific questions and I will try to provide the information that you are asking for and thank you in advance for the help you are providing.

That out of the way, now to my problem.

I’ve installed the latest version of Linux Mint Cinnamon, 19 “Tara”. I’ve installed the latest version of Plex Media Server for Linux (1.13.9.5456-ecd600442).

I have 3 physical drives on the PC. 1 250 GB SSD and two 4 TB HDD. Linux and Plex are installed on the SSD. I have placed my media files on one of the 4 TB HDD. I need to know how to make it so that when I try to add libraries I can see the HDD, but not the folder with my media files in it.

I’ve searched forums and read posts from people with similar problems. I’ve come to understand that I need to have the Plex server start at startup, but I’m not sure how. I’ve come to understand that I need to mount the additional drives at startup by editing the fstab. I know that to some extent its a permissions problem. I’ve tried to fix it by changing permissions. I tried editing my fstab file. All I managed to accomplish trashing my install of Linux Mint resulting in the need to reinstall (I couldn’t figure out how to save the installation).

I need step by step instructions please. If you can, please explain what I’m doing so that I can learn as well.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provid.

Please review the following thoroughly. You must gain a level of mastery with the commands as the Linux admin. This is the nature of Linux. Please be advised, we are here to help with PMS on Linux. We do not have the resources to teach Linux.
