Ok so i bought a Drobo… put in my media libraries, stumbled on Plex. Thought oh cool ill install that.
Well… So now according to the status on the bottom of the page it has bee scanning and re-scanning my photo library non stop the WHOLE weekend. I see it just start over again at the top… Why is it doing this???
If left to its own devices it will ruin my NAS drive. I.e. wear it out. Why does it keep re-scanning? I tried to cancel the scan. Nothing.
Please help. Thanks
Double check the settings under library, see if you have it set to scan libraries when it detects a change.
I wouldnt be too worried about it “burning” it out, NAS devices are designed to cope with high reads and writes.
No i had turned off that feature already. And why would it detect a change?!? Im not writing anything to those folders. Its just a large music shared drive.
Turns out I did what any good computer tech does… reboot the stupid thing. Yep that worked! Now it stopped scanning. Ive had to kick off the update process 3 times though because it only scans so many new items in then decides to take a break and stop. i give up. Who quality tested Plex?
Seems like they got the payment part down first and then worked on the bug fixes second.
