Scan library files constantly scanning

Server Version#: qnap TS 853A 35tb with 17tb of files

As my old qnap was getting close to full upgraded to a larger 8 bay with additional 4 drives. currently have 17tb of Movies, Tv Series and Music.

This all worked absolutely perfectly prior to the move over now have faster processor and more ram in the New Qnap, on the old one i could add a film or tv episode and plex would scan and it would show up as new within minutes.

It seems now with the new version of plex that it is constantly scanning the library , why it is doing this is beyond me.

when it does actually start to show some content if i try to play a film or tv series i get stutter and wheel of doom on the screen, yet nothing has changed in regard to the network and never happened before.

am i missing something simple any help would be appreciated

How much music do you have ? Music files take the longest

Seeing it scanning is independent of type. it scans until all items are complete.

A few settings to check: Make sure it’s not set for “Periodically” with an interval which is too short.
I also recommend “perform a partial scan”. No need to scan everything again every time.
I prefer Automatic & Partial.

Which PMS version do you have installed ? Current Plex Pass beta or Public ?
