Hello Plexers… I recently LOST my Plex server and have NO IDEA what to do to find it. All-of-a-sudden, I woke up one morning and it was GONE. I tried rebooting my computer but all I get now is the following message…
Can anyone help me understand what the heck is going on?.. What happened?.. where did my Plex server go?.. Was I hacked, did someone steal my server?.. all my movies are still on my hard drive. I just don’t know what in the world happened. Did the government take over my server? Or did the little green men take control to show the other little green men on their planet my movies?
Hi FordGuy61,
Thanks for responding. I’m running Windows10 Pro v. 22H2. No, my server isn’t running anymore. When I run the Plex app on my tv, none of my libraries are showing up.
Any thoughts on what the heck happened or what I can do to fix things?
So with a 127.0.0.1 address to access, you are using the Windows server on your Windows computer? I haven’t installed PMS onto a Windows computer, but there should be an icon in your “Notifications area” in the lower right for your Plex server.
If it isn’t there, then you might not be running the server software right now, so check your start menu and look for “Plex Media Server” or similar. Run it. Check to see if your server appears now.
If this worked for you, go again and find that Plex task tray icon.
Right-click on it. Remove the checkmark from “Start Plex Media Server at Login”, then tick it again.
That was it!.. thank you Divideby0. I’m a little embarrassed I didn’t notice it myself. Still not sure how it got closed but am just happy having my server back. You’re a good man Charlie Brown!
Thank you for the tick check advice Plex Ninja. It was off so I checked it, then unchecked it, then re-checked it just to be safe. Everything is working as it’s supposed to again… thank you for that tip.
