Help with changing a folder in a library

I have added a folder to a library, but now I want to change it because I realized that the folder I want to add is inside the added folder.

For example:
The folder I have in my library is
HDD - Movies

But I actually wants to add this folder instead
HDD - Movies - x264

It’s because inside the Movies folder I have folders like:
x264
Foreign movies

I don’t want my Foreign movies showing in that library, I want to have a different library for Foreign movies.

Hope you can help me. Thanks a lot!

Add the x264 folder to the library and scan the library. This will create duplicates of everything in the x264 folder. Then remove the main movies folder and scan again. The duplicates should go away and remove the videos in the other folders.

Thanks! I thought I have tried that but I’m gonna try that again. Thanks for your help!

I have now tried the method you were telling me. I think because I have changed the Agent some time ago, It now scans exisiting movies as new movies and add them to recently added movies :frowning:
So some movies become duplicates. And when I delete HDD - Movies after adding HDD - Movies - x264 All my movies were gone. When I did an update of the whole library, they start appearing again but as new added movies.

Ah, ok. If you have used multiple agents over time, then this will happen. The only real fix will be to manually edit your Plex database. See [HowTo] Plex database modification - Moving media the right/wrong way for a discussion on how to do this.

What if I do an update of metadata for the whole library first? Will it help?

Nope. That doesn’t change the agent already used for those items. If there aren’t too many that have a different agent, you can manually rematch those so they do use the same agent to make them into duplicates.

Ok thanks! Try to understand what I shall do but it was hard to figure out
