My ISP is throttling port 32400 so decided to set up NGINX with CloudFlare as per article.
What I have done so far
Bought Domain and pointed it to Cloudflare Nameservers
Changed Cloudflare to Strict with DNS now active
This enables me to access my Plex server by typing Mydomain:32400
Installed NGINX
Created the nginx.conf file from here https://github.com/toomuchio/plex-nginx-reverseproxy/blob/master/nginx.conf
Changed the server_name in line 15 to plex.MyDomain.co.uk, should I be altering any other lines please ?
Renamed it plex.conf
The route to NGINX on mac is as follows
Usr/local/etc/nginx
Were no sites-available or sites-managed folders here so created them
Dropped plex.conf into sites-available then symlinked it into sites-managed
This gives me a structure like this
fastcgi_params
fastcgi_params.default
fastcgi.conf
fastcgi.conf.default
koi-utf
koi-win
mime.types
mime.types.default
nginx.conf
nginx.conf.default
scgi_params
scgi_params.default
servers (Folder)
sites-available (Folder has plex.conf in it)
sites-enabled (Folder has symlink to plex.conf in it)
uwsgi_params
uwsgi_params.default
win-utf
Restarted NGINX by sudo nginx -s reload
Nothing at all seems to have changed and I do not know how to troubleshoot.
Am at my wits end spent hours on this can anybody please spare me some time to help get it working.
Thx in advance Jon
Managed to find somebody on Codementor to remote into my machine and sort this out. Can now access machine on port 80 or 443 but annoyingly has not solved my buffering problems. Sigh
Could your ISP be lowering QOS if it detects certain type of data traffic, aside from port#?
I have spoken to my ISP and they assure me there is no sort of throttling or traffic shaping going on at all. very confused as I can get good speeds testing the connection between my Mac in UK and the one in Spain using iPerf3
Connecting to host (removed ip), port 32400
[ 5] local 192.168.1.250 port 51195 connected to (removed ip) port 32400
[ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate
[ 5] 0.00-1.00 sec 4.94 MBytes 41.4 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 1.00-2.00 sec 8.05 MBytes 67.5 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 2.00-3.00 sec 8.84 MBytes 74.2 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 3.00-4.00 sec 7.98 MBytes 66.9 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 4.00-5.00 sec 8.83 MBytes 74.1 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 5.00-6.00 sec 8.64 MBytes 72.5 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 6.00-7.00 sec 8.37 MBytes 70.2 Mbits/sec
[ 5] 7.00-8.00 sec 8.84 MBytes 74.2 Mbits/sec
These speeds stayed constant for a 180 second test pretty much maxing out my UK download of 80Mbits/sec
I have tried with and without NGINX connected and even with AirVPN and port forwarding but that doesn’t help either still the same problem with uploads.
I am so frustrated spent hours and hours trying different methods always the same outcome.
Would really appreciate any ideas
Jon
