In all of my 480p sources that I’ve encoded into 10-bit H.265, PMP is causing a pixelization of the video. I’ve checked everything to make sure that it’s at max quality. I even set the zoom to none, and the pixelization is still present. The new Plex does not have this issue, however. ! As you can see in this screenshot, the pixelization is horrendous, and this is just on a 1080p monitor.
Since the new Plex doesn’t support audio passthrough to my surround sound receiver for my little HTPC setup, I prefer staying in PMP. If I need to provide any other info, let me know, and I’ll go get it.
Yes, well, if more of us keep posting about it (kind of like how everyone of the PMP users kept posting about wanting to keep PMP for HTPC use), maybe they’ll fix this issue since H.265 is becoming the new norm and that 10-bit color does a lot to preserve the original coloring from the source.
It’s not upscaling that’s the issue. It’s the simple fact that PMP has pixelization issues in general for 10-bit H.265 encodes. If you look at the 1080p sources, you can see it with the text. Never once did I say I was concerned about 480p upscaling because New Plex does it just fine with all source types. PMP does it just fine with H.264 480p sources. Please read what I have to say in detail and not assume. Thanks.
The issue still persists as of the latest PMP version, here are 3 sample pictures, from 3 differents shows, in this case, this is 1080p to 1440p upscaling.
