HEVC hardware transcode with subtitle on LG webos

Server Version#:1.40.0.7998
Player Version#:webos
Hello,
I’m trying to play a hvec file via LG webos player. The NAS has an integrated GPU and Plex is using it for transcoding. I can play the file without issues and I see the system is using the hardware transcoding. Resources on the NAS are fine. As soon as I enable subtitle, the video starts buffering, plays for a few seconds\minutes and buffers again. I’ve been monitoring the resources on the server, nothing out of the ordinary. Is this a bug on the Plex webos player?
I can play the file via web browser without any buffer, hardware transcoding takes place

play

Burning subtitles into the video cannot be done by the GPU. It is therefore the limiting factor when playing on the TV.
Your CPU is simply not fast enough to do that.

So by burning subtitles to the video all the transcoding will go via CPU?
I can burn subtitles on other codecs fine, no buffering on the TV. The NAS is still performing hardware transcoding from what I see in the dashboard.

No. But just by the task of combining the pixels of the subs with the pixels of the video picture, your CPU is already overwhelmed.

CPU on the NAS is at 40%, I wouldn’t say it is overwhelmed  Why isn’t this happening on other codesc? I’m burning the subtitle on 90% of the media.

Your CPU very likely has more than one core. However, the code for of burning in those subs can only use one core.
