My DS720+ can’t HW transcode properly with srt

Hello,

I am reading locally a 12.5Mbps 4K H264 file with srt. There was a small bottleneck in my local network so I decided to HW transcode to 8Mbps 1080p. I can see that it’s supposed to transcode with Hardware

But the processor usage stays completely flat and the transcoding takes ages (buffers every 2 seconds). Plex is installed in Docker and it’s 1.26.1.5772. I don’t really get how the HW transcoding is enabled and shown as used but not active.

EDIT: Just found out it’s only the case with SRT enabled. No issues transcoding without subtitles.

You’re running into a) Plex LG app limitations, and b) Celeron CPU limitations.

Hardware acceleration is working. However, Plex has to burn in the subtitles, which uses the CPU. The Celeron is not strong enough to burn the subtitles in real time, so the video buffers while the CPU can catch up.
