Hi, One Doubt with Sansung Smart TV and audio

Hi,

I am thinking about buy a Samsung UE55NU7172. In his specs says that not support DTS audio decoding.

This means that with PLEX player also not reproduce movies with this audio or this is related with the embbeded samsung player?

thanks

It means, that if your movie has DTS sound as the only sound track, the PMS (Plex Media Server) will have to transcode it

and then wich kind of audio returns transcoding to player?

What I’ve seen on my 2018 model, is it transcode down to 5.1

oh thanks.

Then if I reproduces this DTS movie on a Apple TV 4th generation the audio stills transcoding when it sends to TV via HDMI?

If the Apple TV is the player, then that determines what the PMS does

Um.

With this setup:

-Samsung UE55NU7172(no DTS support)
-Apple TV 4th/4K Gen as a player connected via HDMI to TV
-TV optical audio output connected to Home Cinema Amp

Do you think that I will be able to send DTS audio to Home Cinema Amp?

I would think so, yes, but not knowing the Apple TV Player, I can’t be sure, so better start a new thread tagged as Apple TV Player, and ask for that specifically

Thanks.

Do you think it would be a good idea to wait 2019 models?

To be frank, I bought a Sammy 2018 2 month ago, but if I had known about lack of DTS support before hand, I would have bought an LG.

But when said, 2019 can work with the Beta I pointed you towards, and hopefully soon, it’ll be officially released as well

Beta? Wich Beta?

Ups, I forgot to give you the link

But this is a beta of Plex, how can help it plex to Samsung 2018 TVs?

For 2018, the App is released…

For 2019, it’s not yet, and as such, you’ll have to use the beta for now

If you are connecting the appleTV to an av reciever and that to the tv then dts will work

If u connect the appleTV to the tv and then souns comes through the ARC hmdi… Tjen probably no… As far as i know samsung does no pass through
