sorry, we don’t support source matching yet.
Thanks for the reply. Is this a feature that is likely to come in the next 6 months?
sorry, i can’t give you a timeline. depends on how much free time we have to work on it
Just wanted to add this feature would be highly appreciated. I’m also using the dragonfly red with my iPad. The app looks very good and everything works smoothly, but without support of hi res playback it’s sadly not usable for me.
Thank you!
I appreciate all the work and love the app. Shouldn’t source matching be a priority since the app is marketed to audiophiles?
I’d say it’s marketed to music lovers.
Please, consider improving the source issue. In the regular Plex app I get higher resolution source than in the PlexAmp app… which is a nonsense.
It’s the same player under the hood, so that shouldn’t be the case.
I just left a lengthy reply on another post here. So I won’t repeat it. Want to make sure PLEX leadership should quickly reconsider alienating audiophiles or people who want to play high quality music files on their platform. Sounds like PLEX is playing the numbers game now. When PLEX were small you needed all the numbers you could get. Now that that your numbers are up you now feel empowered to drop those that don’t represent the majority of customers who don’t really care how their music sounds. It looks like PLEX caters to quality videophiles. Since I don’t own or rip a movie that means my voice and usage on this platform I’ve paid allot of money to no longer matters. I feel change in the air. Change is good. Now I begin research and planning for the next phase and platform.
Hi - I also replied to your other thread
I use Plex as a media server to also handle movies, TV series and miscellaneous video so definitely get the value from that as well as the music side. Yes, it is relatively limited, music-wise, if higher res audio is your thing - but for what it is I personally think all credit to the devs for the clear work they have put in to develop the music side of things. I think in fairness audiophility (even a word??) is fairly niche across many services and media ecosystems. One example - mine is a fairly Apple and iOS-centric home, but it annoys me that they just don’t really do anything beyond lossy audio that would give me a more complete Apple experience for music - sure, I can play my higher res files with some jiggery-pokery, but it’s not like they’re giving me a ‘better’ in-house music experience. Spotify have recently announced lossless streaming but there are still questions as to how that may or may not work out. What I’m meaning is, I don’t think this is just a Plex thing that music serving appears less a priority. And ultimately yes, they are businesses.
I see you’re giving Roon a go - all the best with it. There’s no shortage of alternatives if this is your direction - I can say from experience it’s good to try them out. If nothing else it really helps clarify what floats your boat and what your priorities are - e.g. is metadata important, UI? Etc, etc. So maybe if you haven’t already, check out the likes of Volumio, Audirvana for paid stuff and consider Moode Audio, Music Bee and Foobar for the free options
