hibernating

Hi,
PLEX seems to prevent my DS216 II from hibernating , without being called . Hibernating only happens, when i stop the PLEX-Service. Can i do something about it, so flex is only active, when i use it?

Because of how Plex works, drives do not hibernate. It has always been this way. NAS’s and NAS drives are intended to run 24/7/365

You keep rehashing this in multiple threads but it’s quite a lame excuse.
Things can always be done smarter and the fact that Plex keeps updating a log file on the main disk is just stupid.
I’m also using Emby and that allows my NAS drives to go into sleep mode without issues. My NAS drives sleep all the time and only wake up when I need them.
Just saying that it can’t be done differently is arrogant.

Kicking a 1+ year old thread achieves nothing.
Plex has been as it is for all platforms since the beginning.

Now, if all will simply accept this, I will again close this thread.

I will attempt to educate one more time. Spinning the drives down and up all the time does far more damage than leaving them spinning. Drives have fixed “head load cycle” count.

When does a bulb burn out? When it’s left on or when turned on?
