Hide an album in Music Library

Hi everybody, is there someone who can help me with this problem in my music library? I have the same album stored in 2 or 3 different directories in my hard disk, for example, the album “Born to run” is stored in:

  1. Music>Rock>Bruce Springsteen>Studio album>Born to run
  2. Music>Rock>Bruce Springsteen>Boxset>Born to run (30th Anniversary Edition)
  3. Music>Collections>500 Greatest Albums of All Time - (Rolling Stone magazine) >n°18 BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN -Born to Run 1975

One is mp3 music the other 2 are flac.

The main folder where I address Plex in my hard disk is “Music” so all the content feeds the Library.

The problem I face is that Plex shows me all the 3 albums and if I merge them in Plex library it becomes a mess with the same song duplicated 3 times in a unique album. At the same time, I want to maintain them in their original position and not cancel or remove them.
Is there a way to hide the “unnecessary - not interesting” albums and show only one in Plex?

Would be helpful to add this feature with a general filter that shows all the hidden items allowing to show them again if needed.

2021 clean-up: Plex currently doesn’t have a concept of different versions/editions of the same album (nor one for different quality versions).

  • There’s already a feature suggestion to allow hiding certain items from your library (even though it’s described focusing on tv-shows and movies) → duplicate.
  • Alternatively you can manually exclude those albums using a .plexignore file → implemented
