High CPU Usage on Synology

I’ve been having a new issue where I notice very high disk activity on my Synology. Logging in to check, the CPU is at 98% and Plex is unresponsive. Restarting the Plex server fixes the problem temporarily. This started a few weeks ago so I downgraded to 1.19.5.3035. I’ve tried optimizing my database both via the gui and ssh.

Error messages include the following:

Held transaction for too long (…/Library/MetadataItem.cpp:1020): 0.260000 seconds

SLOW QUERY: It took 240.000000 ms to retrieve 24 items.

Error issuing curl_easy_perform(handle): 28

SSDP: Error parsing device schema for http://169.254.4.229:63444/upnp/xml/devices/ManageableDevice1.xml

I’m running a Synology DS916+ which I realize isn’t the fastest however it’s been running smoothly until roughly 2 weeks ago.

Server Version#: 1.19.5.3035
Player Version#: Plex Web
DSM Version #: DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 2

I forgot to mention I turned off all of these.

I’ll dig in and try to find those poorly encoded files.

These fixes only seem to work for about day and then the problem returns. Checking the Synology right now for example, the CPU is at 99% and RAM at 82%, the Plex server is running but I’m not using any clients currently. Checking the logs the scanner activity is all music related.

Top two errors still:
Error issuing curl_easy_perform(handle): 28
SSDP: Error parsing device schema for http://169.254.4.229:63445/upnp/xml/devices/MediaRenderer1.xml

We cannot see the XML from that device. Also note the IP address is a bogon address.

For reference: N3710

Thank you, I’ll post a fresh log dump when the problem recurs.

Latest logs with the CPU at 99% and RAM at 78%…

My Synology is located in my office, so as I’m working I can hear the disk activity. When it suddenly ramps up I’ll go into DSM and check the Task Manager in the Resource Monitor. If the CPU is up really high I’m often not able to open the Plex user interface at that point.

True, although the Task Manager is quite specific about individual processes.
