Had to stick a new drive in my Synology DS118. I was was using DSM V6 but with the new drive it insisted on installing 7.2.2. I installed the latest from the website 1.41.0.8994 but when trying to update the library after installing new movies the activity icon in the top right just keeps spinning even after adding the meta data etc and the cpu sticks at around 85%. I have to stop plex and restart it, for it all to go back to normal then no issues again.
Anyone else having any issues or how I can resolve. Been fine for years on previous versions
Many things use the CPU, such as thumbnail generation, audio analysis, and intro detection.
With a low power CPU, such as those used by Synology, it will take time to process an entire library.
You can lessen the impact by disabling some tasks until others complete and by scheduling them to occur only during maintenance hours.
Example: Disable preview thumbnails, credit detection, and audio analysis. Schedule others to occur during scheduled tasks. Then adjust scheduled tasks to run during off hours. When initial tasks are complete, enable remaining tasks one by one.
