Hello,
I have purchased the qnap 251+ and I install a PLEX Media Server on this NAS.
I have detected that since the Plex is installed and active on the NAS I have very high latency peaks in the local network.
normaly I have a ping to google of 11-14ms when I activate the PLEX on the NAS I observe peaks that reach up to 3000ms and even lost packets.
I hope your help.
Thanks.
When you notice these ping changes are you streaming anything on your LAN? when you ping is it over wireless or wired?
Hi,
there is no connection or streaming, just the NAS and my computer are connected using cable
Thanks
When you “activate plex” what do you mean?
Plex is instaled on NAS like an app. If app PMS is stoped no latency on my LAN but if is started I have high ping. It seems like plex media server is doing cheeks or cheeking updates or metadata all time using all bandwitch
Thanks
This happens with some (not-so-pricey) routers.
You can try to mitigate it by
using a manual portforwarding, instead on relying on UPnP to automatically create the portforwarding for you.
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200931138-Troubleshooting-Remote-Access
If you don’t use online gaming and such, you could also diable UPnP in general in your router’s settings.
A second thing to test is to disable the DLNA part of Plex server.
Thanks OttoKerner i Disable UPnP and configure it manually and it works ok!!
Thanks a lot
